Energy efficiency grants available for community organisations

Federal MP Brian Mitchell is calling for eligible community organisations in Lyons to submit an expression of interest (EOI) for the Powering Communities grant program.

Up to $67,000 will be delivered to not-for-profit community groups in Lyons to help improve energy efficiency and reduce carbon emissions.

Mr Mitchell said the grants, which range from $5,000 to $12,000, will help reduce costs and emissions by funding solar panels, improved heating and air conditioning, lighting, and appliance replacement.

“This is a fantastic opportunity for community groups across Lyons to improve their energy efficiency, improving their energy productivity and reduce their carbon emissions,” Mr Mitchell said.

“My office is undertaking an EOI process to identify priority projects for our local area and we want as many groups as possible to apply.”

Organisations must have been nominated by their Member and meet the eligibility criteria to be invited for a grant application.

Each Member can nominate organisations to apply for funding in their electorate. The Department of Industry, Science, Energy and Resources will then contact nominated organisations to apply for funding in July 2021. Successful applicants will be announced in December 2021.
