Federal Labor MP for Lyons Brian Mitchell has welcomed today’s Federal Court decision that struck down a bid by the Bob Brown Foundation to disrupt the Tasmanian forestry industry.
“Tasmanians have every right to expect the Bob Brown Foundation to respect the court’s decision and abide by the law,” Mr Mitchell said.
“That is certainly what the Foundation would have demanded of the forestry industry if the court had found in its favour.
“The Bob Brown Foundation cannot expect Tasmanians to accept that it should have the right to ignore decisions it does not like, while demanding that everyone abide by the decisions and laws that it does like.
“I now call on the Bob Brown Foundation to accept the court’s decision.”
