Brian Mitchell MP, Federal Member for Lyons has congratulated GP practices in Lyons that were recently awarded grants under a federal program.
The Australian Government’s General Practice Grants Program has awarded 26 practices throughout Lyons an average grant sum of $27,500 each to upgrade practices, invest in staff, and expand patient access.
A total of $715,000 in grants were awarded to strengthen healthcare in the electorate.
“The Albanese Government recognises the challenges to regional and rural health that have built up over the past decade, especially here in Tasmania,” Mr Mitchell said.
“The Labor Government is listening and taking action to improve health service delivery, with record incentives for bulk-billing, support for rural health training and broadening the scope of practice for health professionals.
“The General Practice grants will be used to upgrade primary health care delivery in our regions, because everyone deserves quality health care, no matter where they live.”
