“Centrelink’s robo-debt recovery is destroying lives.’ says Federal Labor MP Brian Mitchell.
“My office has been overwhelmed with calls from distressed people, angry about the process, and exhausted by the run-around to sort the debts out. It’s just not good enough.”
The Turnbull government is now setting its sights on pensioners and disability support recipients.
“I’m joining my Labor colleagues in calling for a stop to this systemic attack on our most vulnerable community members, and for a Senate Inquiry to see exactly how the debt recovery and data matching system works, and how it is failing the Australian people. Enough is enough.
‘This government could not be more out of touch. It’s about time Mr Turnbull turned his sights on the big end of town instead of expecting ordinary Australians to fix his failed economic program.”
